Pretty Table Favours
There probably won’t be as many people at your Christmas table as usual this year, but some families are doing porch drop dinners, or pot luck drop offs, sharing recipes so everyone enjoys the same meal, and lots of other creative ways to celebrate with family. Why not create little table favours to share along with other holiday treats. We may have to do things differently, but we can still find ways to be festive.
We made these cute little table favours at our Tags, Bags and Boxes class, and I learned that completing 3D projects on Zoom is a little trickier than doing them in person! We did get through it though, and I think everyone enjoyed all the projects. I decided to share this box pattern with everyone, since they are so cute!
You can use any cardstock and Designer Series Paper you have on hand, we used Night of Navy cardstock, Brightly Gleaming DSP, Copper Ribbon, and Copper Foil for these.
Start with cardstock cut 8 1/2 x 7 inches
On the long side, score at 2, 4, 6, and 8
On the short side, score at 1/2, 2 1/2, 4 1/2, and 6 1/2
The DSP to decorate the box is 1 3/4 x 1 3/4, and you will need 6
Cut your box using the diagram as a guide.
The dotted lines are your score lines, and the diagonal lines are what you will cut out. We started our cutting at the bottom, where the narrow portion is. Notice that on the 2nd and 4th row you cut a bit more than to the 1/2 inch score line. Row 3 removes 1, 2, 4 and 5 sections across.
When you are finished cutting, adhere your DSP squares to decorate. The picture below also shows the strip of Tear & Tape on the bottom tab. There is just one tab that gets adhesive for this box. The top and bottom flaps fold in. I rounded the corners of these tabs. You may need to trim a tiny bit off the edge to get them to close nicely.
Once your box is assembled, you can decorate it any way you like. I used a poinsettia made from the Poinsettia Dies to embellish the top of this box. I spritzed my Night of Navy cardstock with Frost Shimmer Paint to add a shimmery effect to my cardstock before I cut my poinsettia pieces. The centre is cut from Copper Foil.
