An Oldie But A Goodie!

One of the first techniques I learned when I first started stamping was Sponging. It is a simple technique that is easy and fun to do, and can really change the look of your card.

I have used the Beautiful Autumn stamp set and Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper again for this card. The products in the suite are some of my current favs, so I find myself using it a lot these days!
To create my backgroud for my card, I started with a Very Vanilla Thick card base. I sponged Crumb Cake ink all over to give the marbled effect. Simply use a sponge, tap it in your ink, and then on your cardstock. Easy peasy!
I added a leaf stem from the stamp set using Cajun Craze ink, and also stamped my sentiment from the set. I cut around the sentiment and die cut a frame from Early Espresso cardstock using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies. I mounted the sentiment with Dimensionals.
This picture shows you how easy it is to transform a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with the sponging technique. You can see how it totally changes the look.

And there you have it! A simple technique to give your card a whole different look. Tone on tone works great for this technique, but you can also stamp a whole different colour on light cardstock for a variety of looks.
Why not try some sponging on your next card.
