Good Morning Blue Magnolia
It probably isn’t a secret, but blue is my favourite colour. I love the colour blue and would make way too many cards in blue if it weren’t for all the fantastic colours Stampin’ Up! offers, but today my card features Balmy Blue, a colour I love!
I made this card for the Case This Sketch challenge, here is the inspiration for my card.
The flower on my card is from some of the Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper. Have you played with this DSP yet? It is absolutely stunning, with pretty flower images and leafy sketches, stripes and so much more. I used the Layered Circles dies to cut both the DSP and Balmy Blue. Then I coloured the flower with my Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blend marker. I love how it turned out! My small background piece is Mossy Meadow, cut with a die from the Tropical dies, and mounted on Balmy Blue. My card base and large background are Basic Black, with the top layer embossed with the Tufted Embossing Folder. My Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set. But where did I get that little die? Here is a little tip. If you like a die, but it isn’t quite the right size, you may be able to custom size it. I used the narrowest die from the Stitched Rectangle dies. I cut out my piece of Balmy Blue card stock and stamped my greeting in Mossy Meadow. I stamped near one end, and then put the card stock back in the die, and cut it to the exact length I wanted to surround my greeting.
It is an extra step, but really an easy way to create a custom sized piece with the pretty stitched border.
