Season's Greetings From Paper Pumpkin
This month’s Paper Pumpkin is called Winter Woods, and it makes 10 lovely cards. A snowy winter scene complete with frosty trees, and cardinals. It is a complete kit, giving you everything you need to make these beautiful cards.
I made this card exactly the way the instructions outlined, and I certainly could have made them all like this, but I wanted to make some alternate cards as well. The kits always give you some extra bits and pieces, but I decided to use some kit pieces, and just modify things a bit to start. Here is one of the alternate cards I made.
I cut the pine trees with a Layered Circle die, then cut the same size hole in a Thick Whisper White card base. I used the same size again, but added a larger scalloped edge die, and cut a frame from Night of Navy card stock.
I stamped the snow flakes all over my card base in Night of Navy ink. The kit includes an ink spot, so there is no need to worry if you do not have the same colour in a large pad. I stamped my sentiment on a strip of Whisper White card stock, and cut banner ends on it.
To adhere the Night of Navy frame, I used liquid Tombow glue. It is a good idea to do this with the card base open, in case any extra glue oozes out on the back.
The easiest way to line up the image to glue on the inside of the card is to do it with the card base closed. The kit provides glue dots, so I put those on the back of the trees circle, closed my card, and dropped the circle right in the hole. That way I know it will line up perfectly!
The banner behind my sentiment was cut from the top of the kit card base.
This is what is left of my kit card base. I will cut the bottom off and use it on another card, nothing goes to waste!
I finished my card with a cardinal and some snow flakes.
Paper Pumpkin kits are fantastic. They come with everything you need to complete your project, and even give you some extra pieces to use on other projects. You get a stamp set and an ink spot every month. These kits are great for taking on the go with you. No waiting for appointments and being bored, just take your Paper Pumpkin kit along and you will have something fun to do while you wait. They are also great for travellers, easy to pack and fun to make.
