My Double Challenge for The Global Design Project
The Global Design Project has a sketch challenge this week. I decided to make a double challenge for myself today, by using bits and pieces I have accumulated recently. Here is my card.
And here is the sketch banner.
While tidying up my work area to get started I had a strip of Mint Macaron card stock. I also found a piece of the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.
This whole package of DSP is gorgeous, but this one is my absolute favourite. I had been using it recently to make a desk organizer so I could enjoy it every time I craft. If you missed that post, you can see it here.
I also had cut outs of the Frog and Giraffe from the Animal Expedition suite. I love these little guys and will often stamp, colour and die cut a bunch of them to add to cards later. Since I was challenging myself to use bits and pieces I already had, they seemed like the perfect match for my card. That is until I started to lay it all together! The flowery paper didn’t really suit my animal pieces, and I didn’t like the way the Giraffe was ‘floating’ as I had thought about using him as the little banner in the top left of the sketch. I turned my DSP over to see what was on the back, and then things started to come together. I took creative liberty with the sketch and moved my Giraffe lower, so he is climbing out from the Mint Macaron strip. This grounded him and worked much better. I added a greeting from the Animal Outing set and finished it off with a Mint Macaron bow from the Nature’s Twine. I hated not using the flower side of my DSP, but I’m really happy with how it all came together.
