Sparkling Birthday Greetings
My brother’s birthday is in early November, and my sister’s birthday is a couple weeks later. I wanted to make special cards for both of them, so I decided to make my brother’s card sparkle.
I used the Happy Birthday Thinlits to cut my greeting from Gold Glimmer Paper. Since I wanted a masculine card, I decided to mount it a piece of card stock embossed with the Woodland TIEF. I layed it all out, thought it looked right, and glued the greeting down. Later when I was looking at the card the greeting seemed to be lost. It needed more definition. Since the card was all glued together at this point I could not just add a second Happy Birthday cut with the Thinlits from a dark piece of card stock. I often do that to create a shadow effect, and give more depth to the piece. You can see a sample of a card done that way here.
Since I had already put my card together, I decided to use a Stampin’ Write marker to add an outline around my greeting. Here is the card with the outline added.
I like how the outline makes the greeting pop a bit more, so I was glad that I had decided to add this! Happy Birthday Big Brother.
