Basic Borders
Today I want to introduce you to the Basic Borders Dies. They are anything but basic!! There are 6 dies in this set, and they can be used to cut decorative edges on cards, or layers for card fronts. They are wonderful for creating edges for scrapbook elements, and can also be used to make envelope liners to really step up your projects.
If you attended or watched my Catalogue Kick Off you saw these samples briefly, but here is a closer look at the cards.
This is the Pansy Petals DSP, cut with the zig zag die. I put the 2 pieces at the edge of my card base, and added my sentiment across the middle on Pale Papaya cardstock.
The next card used the Beauty of Friendship stamp set, and three more of the Basic Borders Dies. I have used the clouds die with some of the Beauty of The Earth DSP, and another on the edge of my card base.
The third one I used was to cut an arc for the inside of the card.
The next card uses the mosaic type of border to create interest in the layers on my card front. The DSP on this card is from Hand Penned DSP.
For the final card I went all out and used all the bits and pieces from each cut. I wanted to cut my card base and DSP to match to create a layered effect with an interesting edge. Of course when you cut your paper, you end up with the edge that you cut off, and I wanted to use that as well.
I added the DSP cut off to the inside of the card base, and the Misty Moonlight cut off is on the left side of the card front. With all these angles, I had to add the same one inside the card!
