Simple Stamping, Simple Layers

At my last Tips & Tricks class, one of the topics we chatted about was how to make nice layers for cards. Here are two cards that are easy to make, and have a great layered depth to them.

This first card is just Simple Stamping, using only stamps, ink and paper. It is great for crafters that are just building their craft stash, or if you don’t want to pull out a lot of tools to make a pretty card.
I used a piece of the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper to do most of the work on this card.
We used three easy layers for the backdrop. The card base is Bumblebee, 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches, scored and folded at 4 1/4. The next layer is Old Olive cardstock, cut 5 1/4 x 4. The SDSP is cut 5 x 3 3/4. It is easy to create pretty layers, if you just reduce your sizes by 1/4 inch each layer.
The stamp is from the Four Season Floral stamp set, available in the Beginner Brochure. This is an awesome stamp set, especially for those new to stamping as it has both image and sentiment stamps. I stamped the flower on Basic White cardstock, cut 1 3/4 x 3 1/4. The Old Olive border is simply 1/4 inch larger, 2 x 3 1/2.
The sentiment is from the same set, and I cut a little banner piece to accent the sentiment block.

The second card uses the same layers, but it is stepped up a bit. I used another flower from the same stamp set, and added a bit of colour to the flower with my Calypso Coral and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.

The sentiment is cut with one of the Stitched So Sweetly Dies, and the edges are sponged. I also added a little Ladybug Trinket to the card. Isn’t she cute?

Both cards are quick and easy to make, and are ready to send a pretty birthday wish.
