Kissing
At a time in our lives where we have dramatically reduced our close contact, here is some Kissing that won’t spread germs! I used the Kissing Technique when stamping these cards.
This fun technique will give you interesting and different results depending on the stamps you use.
Simply ink you main stamp with a relatively light colour ink. I used Seaside Spray on a stamp from the Ridiculously Awesome stamp set.
Next, choose another stamp, and ink it in a darker colour. I used Merry Merlot on the trees stamp from the Winter Woods stamp set on this card.
Once you have both stamps inked, you ‘kiss’ them together which will transfer some of the dark ink to the lighter inked stamp, and vice versa.
The branches on these trees are very fine and close together, giving my image a marbled colour effect that makes you ask ‘How did she do that??’
I cut my sentiment and a Silver Foil frame using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies, and mounted it on a Merry Merlot background that I embossed with the Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder. My card base is Seaside Spray.
For the second card, I started the same way, but used a leaf sprig stamp from the Touched My Heart Host Stamp Set for my darker accent stamp. This stamp is smaller than my main image, so I inked and stamped it a number of times to cover the whole image.
You can see how this gives a totally different look with the same Kissing Technique, adding lines of the darker colour, and less blending of the colours.
I trimmed the sentiment and framed it with a piece of Seaside Spray card stock, cut with the Stitched Rectangles Dies. My background is embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder, and a Seaside Spray card base.
This is such a wonderful, fun sentiment, I decided to mount these pieces at a jaunty angle to continue the fun!
I finished the card with some Rhinestone Basic Jewels that I coloured with my Dark Seaside Spray Stampin’ Blend marker. I love how you can colour these jewels to have them colour coordinate with any project.
I decided to stamp the tress from my first card to see what I would get. Since this one is the dark ink, the effect is more subtle, but it does change the look. These trees are not exactly Merry Merlot, they have a bit of the Seaside Spray ink changing the look. I haven’t made this piece into a card yet, but I like the look, so it is sure to end up on a project one of these days!!
This is such an easy and fun technique, and the possibilities are endless. Why not give the Kissing Technique a try.
