That's For The Birds

Do you like to walk on the beach and see the birds in the sand and wandering in the water to see what they can find? I live in Wasaga Beach which is on Georgian Bay, so walking the beach and watching the birds is right around the corner for me. It is fun to watch them as they search for bugs and things in the sand and the water.

This card is for the Global Design Project Challenge which has a theme challenge this week - Bees, Birds and Butterflies. Here is the banner for the challenge.

When I first saw this challenge, I immediately thought about the bees, birds and butterflies we see in the early days of spring. I went a little less traditional though, with my birds at the water. Georgian Bay can be rough and cold all winter, so walking on the beach isn’t something I rush to do, but as the days get warmer, it is wonderful to go for a walk along the waters edge and see everything coming back to life with the warmer spring weather.
To create I my card I used an oval mask, cut with the largest Layering Oval die. I used some washi tape to hold the mask over my card stock and sponged the sand in Crumb Cake, the water in Coastal Cabana, and the sun in Mango Melody.

After my sponging was complete, I stamped the birds from High Tide in Early Espresso, and the grass in Soft Suede.

I left the mask on for my stamping in case I went “outside the lines”, I didn’t want it to end up on my card. The stamping all fit easily within the mask so no harm done!!
My sentiment is from Itty Bitty Birthdays, stamped and mounted on Soft Suede. I layered the card on Soft Suede and a Mango Melody card base.
