A Colour Challenge for #GDP145

This week the Global Design Project has a colour challenge for us to play along with, and I love these colours! Grapefruit Grove is one of my favourite new colours, and I have used it often. It is bright and happy and goes beautifully with Fresh Fig and Mint Macaron.

Here is the card I made using these colours.

I decided to use the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set for my card and cut out my dragonfly with the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies. I stamped the dragonfly in Fresh Fig, and stamped the fill in for the wings in Grapefruit Grove. As I was looking at that on my card I wasn’t sure if the colour was quite right. I decided to try it with Fresh Fig and Mint Macaron. Then I couldn’t decide which one to use, so in the end I used them both. I don’t know a whole lot about dragonflies, but I do know that they eat a lot of mosquitos, so 2 dragonflies is a good thing!!

I used the Subtle Dynamic TIEF to add texture to my Fresh Fig layer. I love this new embossing folder. It is a small (subtle) pattern that has a big impact on your card. If you haven’t added this to your collection yet, you definitely want it on your wish list. I used tone on tone with the dots stamp from the Dragonfly Dreams to highlight the Mint Macaron strip. The greeting is from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set. I make and donate cards to my church, so this one will be perfect to add to my collection to donate.
