Butterfly Beauty for my Mom
In a recent blog post I used the Artistically Asian stamp set, and wrote about how much I loved the set. You can see that post here. In that post I used one of the image stamps, but none of the sentiment stamps. I promised to show another card using one of the sentiments from that set, and today is the day!
I find it interesting how the creative process works, and how cards come together sometimes. I had embossed the piece of Berry Burst card stock for another project, but didn't end up using it. I had cut out the butterfly and coloured it with my Stampin' Blends, but didn't have a use for it. I was just playing with my blends and trying different things at the time. Both pieces were sitting in a box of 'scrap bits' I keep. These are pieces that are available to add to a project, but ones I haven't found a use for yet. Generally I would not think to put the orange butterfly and the dark pink card stock in a project, but they were sitting together in my box, and I really liked how they looked. I added some Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie card stock to the base layers and the card came together. As I mentioned, the sentiment is from the Artistically Asian stamp set, and I love this one.
As I was putting together this blog post, I wasn't really thinking about what day I would share it, but just happened to pick today. May 22nd would have been my Mom's 94th birthday. God called her home last August and I really miss her, but she loved bright colours and pinks and purples were her favourites, so this card is very fitting for today. This one's for you Mommy.
